The foreknowledge of Imam “Reza” [AS]

Preface:

“Quran” says that foreknowledge and awareness of anything are special for god almighty inherently. Some people, based on their gained merits, can be aware of hidden matters, “Prophets [PBUTH] and Shiite Imams [AS] are pioneer in this regard.

Foreknowledge of prophets [PBUTH] and Shiite Imams [AS] could be prove via several ways. Saying hidden news by them is one logical ways for proving this claim. It’s clear that if someone informs form Hidden matters, he has foreknowledge.

On the occasion of the birth of Imam “Reza”, we’ll cite some Hidden matters that Imam “Reza” [AS] was aware of them and said them to people.

Reports:

Most of reports regarding to the foreknowledge of Imam [AS] are written in the book “Oyoun Akhbar Al-Ridha”. It’s worth mentioning, that all following narratives are valid comply with the principles of Hadith science.

According to these narratives Imam “Reza” [AS] has informed from many of future events, he would say to people what they have in their mind and fulfill their requests before being said.

First narrative: awareness of the request of “Riyan ibn salt”

“Ryan ibn Salt” liked to get one of the cloths of Imam “Reza” [AS] and amount of money. When he wanted to leave Imam [AS], he got so upset and didn’t say his request. Imam [AS] realized his request after mentioning it.

Text of the narrative:

دثنا أحمد بن زياد بن جعفر الهمداني قال حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم قال حدثني الريان بن الصلت قال: لما أردت الخروج إلى العراق وعزمت على توديع الرضا عليه السلام فقلت في نفسي إذا ودعته سألته قميصا من ثياب جسده لأكفن به ودراهم من ماله أصوغ بها لبناتي خواتيم فلما ودعته شغلني البكاء والأسف على فراقه عن مسألة ذلك فلما خرجت من بين يديه صاح بي يا ريان ارجع فرجعت فقال لي : أما تحب أن أدفع إليك قميصا من ثياب جسدي تكفن فيه إذا فنى أجلك؟ أوما تحب أن أدفع إليك دراهم تصوغ بها لبناتك خواتيم؟ ... فرفع عليه السلام الوسادة وأخرج قميصا فدفعه إلي ورفع جانب المصلى فاخرج دراهم فدفعها إلي وعددتها فكانت ثلاثين درهما.

 “Rayyan ibn Salt” said: when I wanted to “Iraq”, I went to Imam “Reza” [AS] to bid farewell thinking of getting one of the cloths of Imam [AS] making it my own coffin and amount of money to buy ring for my daughters. After bidding farewell I was so upset of this separation that I forgot what I wanted to request. When I came out, Imam “Reza” [AS] called me and said: O “Rayyan” come back, I got back, he said: don’t you want me to give you one of cloths that I put on using of it as you coffin? Do you like me to give you several dirhams buying ring for your daughters? ... . Imam [AS] brought one of his cloths for me and gave 30 dirhams.

Second narrative: awareness of the request of “Hisham Abbasid”

Similar to what happened to “Rayyn ibn salt”, happened to “Hisham Abbasi”:

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ مَاجِيلَوَيْهِ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى الْيَقْطِينِيِّ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ الْهِشَامَ الْعَبَّاسِيَّ يَقُولُ‏ دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ع وَ أَنَا أُرِيدُ أَنْ‏ أَسْأَلَهُ‏ أَنْ يُعَوِّذَنِي لِصُدَاعٍ أَصَابَنِي وَ أَنْ يَهَبَ لِي ثَوْبَيْنِ مِنْ ثِيَابِهِ أُحْرِمُ فِيهِمَا فَلَمَّا دَخَلْتُ سَأَلْتُ عَنْ مَسَائِلِي فَأَجَابَنِي وَ نَسِيتُ حَوَائِجِي فَلَمَّا قُمْتُ لِأَخْرُجَ وَ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أُوَدِّعَهُ قَالَ لِي اجْلِسْ فَجَلَسْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَوَضَعَ يَدَهُ عَلَى رَأْسِي وَ عَوَّذَنِي ثُمَّ دَعَا لِي بِثَوْبَيْنِ مِنْ ثِيَابِهِ فَدَفَعَهُمَا إِلَيَّ وَ قَالَ لِي أَحْرِمْ فِيهِمَا قَالَ الْعَبَّاسِيُّ وَ طَلَبْتُ بِمَكَّةَ ثَوْبَيْنِ سَعِيدِيَّيْنِ إِحْدَاهُمَا لِابْنِي فَلَمْ أُصِبْ بِمَكَّةَ مِنْهُمَا شَيْئاً عَلَى نَحْوِ مَا أَرَدْتُ فَمَرَرْتُ بِالْمَدِينَةِ فِي مُنْصَرَفِي فَدَخَلْتُ عَلَى أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا ع فَلَمَّا وَدَّعْتُهُ وَ أَرَدْتُ الْخُرُوجَ دَعَا بِثَوْبَيْنِ سَعِيدِيَّيْنِ عَلَى عَمَلِ الْمُوَشَّى الَّذِي كُنْتُ طَلَبْتُهُ فَدَفَعَهُمَا إِلَيَّ.

Hisham Abbasi” said: I went to Imam “Reza” [AS] to pray for my till my headache is healed and to ask him giving me two pieces of his clothing that he would wear them for “Ihram” [one of the deeds of Hajj that after performing it several things will be Haram for you during period of Hajj], after going to imam [AS] I asked him my questions and got their response, but I forgot asking me giving me what I wanted. After bidding fare well he told me: sit down; then he put his hand on my head and prayed for me then he gave me two pieces of his clothing and said I performed “Ihram” wearing them. “Hisham Abbasi” says: I wanted to buy “Sa’adityah” shirt in “Mecca” for my son as souvenir  but I couldn’t find this kind of shirt in “Mecca”. Two pieces of clothing that Imam “Reza” [AS] gave were the same one I couldn’t find in “Mecca”.

Third narrative: awareness of the request of “Vusha’”

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ الْوَشَّاءِ قَالَسَأَلَنِي الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْأَشْعَثِ أَنْ أَسْأَلَ الرِّضَا ع أَنْ يُحْرِقَ‏كُتُبَهُ إِذَا قَرَأَهَا مَخَافَةَ أَنْ تَقَعَ فِي يَدِ غَيْرِهِ قَالَ الْوَشَّاءُ فَابْتَدَأَنِي ع بِكِتَابٍ قَبْلَ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ أَنْ يُحْرِقَ كُتُبَهُ فِيهِ أَعْلِمْ صَاحِبَكَ أَنِّي إِذَا قَرَأْتُ كُتُبَهُ إِلَيَّ حَرَقْتُهَا.

“Hasan ibn Vusha’” said: “Abbas ibn Ja’far ibn Muhammad ibn Asha’th” asked me asking Imam “Reza” [AS] to tear any letter that “Abbas” writes for him after reading it till no one except Imam [AS] can’t read them. “Vusha’” say: before saying to Imam “Reza” [AS], he wrote for me: say to your friend I rip letters you send me after reading them.

Fourth narrative: awareness of the request of “BAZANTI”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ الْبَزَنْطِيِّ قَالَ: كُنْتُ شَاكّاً فِي أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الرِّضَا عليه السلام فَكَتَبْتُ إِلَيْهِ كِتَاباً أَسْأَلُهُ فِيهِ الْإِذْنَ عَلَيْهِ وَ قَدْ أَضْمَرْتُ فِي نَفْسِي أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ إِذَا دَخَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ عَنْ ثَلَاثِ آيَاتٍ قَدْ عَقَدْتُ قَلْبِي عَلَيْهَا قَالَ فَأَتَانِي جَوَابُ مَا كَتَبْتُ بِهِ إِلَيْهِ عَافَانَا اللَّهُ وَ إِيَّاكَ أَمَّا مَا طَلَبْتَ مِنَ الْإِذْنِ عَلَيَّ فَإِنَّ الدُّخُولَ إِلَيَّ صَعْبٌ وَ هَؤُلَاءِ قَدْ ضَيَّقُوا عَلَيَّ فِي ذَلِكَ فَلَسْتَ تَقْدِرُ عَلَيْهِ الْآنَ وَ سَيَكُونُ إِنْ شَاءَ اللَّهُ وَ كَتَبَ عليه السلام بِجَوَابِ مَا أَرَدْتُ أَنْ أَسْأَلَهُ عَنْهُ عَنِ الْآيَاتِ الثَّلَاثِ فِي الْكِتَابِ وَ لَا وَ اللَّهِ مَا ذَكَرْتُ لَهُ مِنْهُنَّ شَيْئاً ...

“BAZANTI” quotes: I was hesitate about the Imamate if Imam “Reza” [AS], I sent a letter to him asking him going to him, I wanted to ask him about three verses after seeing him. Imam “Reza” [AS] sent a letter back to me and said in response: god bless us and you, as for coming to us, it’s not possible now, because they’re so strict and don’t let anyone coming to me. “BAZANTI” sais: Imam [AS] wrote the response of those verses that I want to ask about them, while, swear to god, I didn’t mention to not of them in my letter….

Fifth narrative: awareness of what “BAZANDI” had in his mind

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ رض قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الصَّفَّارُ عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى عَنْ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي نَصْرٍ الْبَزَنْطِيِّ قَالَ: بَعَثَ الرِّضَا ع إِلَيَّ بِحِمَارٍ فَرَكِبْتُهُ وَ أَتَيْتُهُ فَأَقَمْتُ عِنْدَهُ بِاللَّيْلِ إِلَى أَنْ مَضَى مِنْهُ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ فَلَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنْهَضَ قَالَ لِي لَا أَرَاكَ تَقْدِرُ عَلَى الرُّجُوعِ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قُلْتُ أَجَلْ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ فَبِتْ‏ عِنْدَنَا اللَّيْلَةَ وَ اغْدُ عَلَى بَرَكَةِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ قُلْتُ أَفْعَلُ جُعِلْتُ فِدَاكَ قَالَ يَا جَارِيَةُ افْرُشِي لَهُ فِرَاشِي وَ اطْرَحِي عَلَيْهِ مِلْحَفَتِيَ الَّتِي أَنَامُ فِيهَا وَ ضَعِي تَحْتَ رَأْسِهِ مِخَدَّتِي‏ قَالَ فَقُلْتُ فِي نَفْسِي مَنْ أَصَابَ مَا أَصَبْتُ فِي لَيْلَتِي هَذِهِ لَقَدْ جَعَلَ اللَّهُ لِي مِنَ الْمَنْزِلَةِ عِنْدَهُ وَ أَعْطَانِي مِنَ الْفَخْرِ مَا لَمْ يُعْطِهِ أَحَداً مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ بِحِمَارِهِ‏ فَرَكِبْتُهُ وَ فَرَشَ لِي فِرَاشَهُ وَ بِتُّ فِي مِلْحَفَتِهِ وَ وُضِعَتْ لِي مِخَدَّتُهُ مَا أَصَابَ مِثْلَ هَذَا أَحَدٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِنَا قَالَ وَ هُوَ قَاعِدٌ مَعِي وَ أَنَا أُحَدِّثُ نَفْسِي فَقَالَ ع لِي يَا أَحْمَدُ إِنَّ أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ع أَتَى زَيْدَ بْنَ صُوحَانَ‏ فِي مَرَضِهِ يَعُودُ فَافْتَخَرَ عَلَى النَّاسِ بِذَلِكَ فَلَا تَذْهَبَنَّ نَفْسُكَ إِلَى الْفَخْرِ وَ تَذَلَّلْ لِلَّهِ عَزَّ وَ جَلَّ ...

BAZANTI” says: Imam “Reza” [AS] sent a donkey for me, I rode it and went to Imam [AS], I was there that night

We were sitting talking, after a while When Imam [AS] wanted to get up told me: it seems like you’re not able going to “Medina”, I said: yes I’m not. He said: stay here tonight. Then he said to his maid: lay out my mattress for him and bring my pillow and quilt for him. “BAZANTI” says: I thought that what has happened to me tonight is a dignity that god’s put for me and such even hasn’t happened to anyone amongst companions because Imam [AS] sent his own donkey for me and his mattress was laid out for me. I was thinking of such things that Imam “Reza” [AS] said: O “BAZNI”, commander of faithful [AS] visited “Zeid ibn Suhan” when he was sick and he [Zeid] boasted around due to this

event. You don’t do so and be modest before god…

Sixth narrative: awareness of an event for “Du’bal”

Imam “Reza” [AS] gave him several coins and said you’ll need it, as Imam had said these coins came

in handy and his problem was solved.

 حدثنا الحسين بن إبراهيم بن أحمد بن هشام المؤدب و علي بن عبد الله الوراق رضي الله عنهما قالا حدثنا علي بن إبراهيم بن هاشم عن أبيه إبراهيم بن هاشم عن عبد السلام بن صالح الهروي قال دخل دعبل علي موسى الرضا عليهما السلام بمرو ... فأنشده : مدارس آيات خلت من تلاوة  * ومنزل وحي مقفر العرصات ...  ثم نهض الرضا عليه السلام بعد فراغ دعبل من إنشاد القصيدة وأمره أن لا يبرح من موضعه فدخل الدار فلما كان بعد ساعة خرج الخادم إليه بمائة دينار رضوية فقال له : يقول لك مولاي إجعلها في نفقتك فقال دعبل : والله ما لهذا جئت ولا قلت هذه القصيدة طمعا في شئ يصل إلي ورد الصرة وسأل(دعبل) ثوبا من ثياب الرضا عليه السلام ليتبرك ويتشرف به فانفذ إليه الرضا عليه السلام جبة خز مع الصرة وقال للخادم: قل له خذ هذه الصرة فإنك ستحتاج إليها ... وَ سَارَ دِعْبِلٌ حَتَّى وَصَلَ إِلَى قُمَّ فَسَأَلَهُ أَهْلُ قُمَّ أَنْ يُنْشِدَهُمُ الْقَصِيدَةَ فَأَمَرَهُمْ أَنْ يَجْتَمِعُوا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ الْجَامِعِ فَلَمَّا اجْتَمَعُوا صَعِدَ الْمِنْبَرَ فَأَنْشَدَهُمُ الْقَصِيدَةَ فَوَصَلَهُ النَّاسُ مِنَ الْمَالِ وَ الْخِلَعِ بِشَيْ‏ءٍ كَثِيرٍ وَ اتَّصَلَ بِهِمْ خَبَرُ الْجُبَّةِ فَسَأَلُوهُ أَنْ يَبِيعَهَا مِنْهُمْ بِأَلْفِ دِينَارٍ فَامْتَنَعَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ فَقَالُوا لَهُ فَبِعْنَا شَيْئاً مِنْهَا بِأَلْفِ دِينَارٍ فَأَبَى عَلَيْهِمْ وَ سَارَ عَنْ قُمَّ فَلَمَّا خَرَجَ مِنْ رُسْتَاقِ الْبَلَدِ لَحِقَ بِهِ قَوْمٌ مِنْ أَحْدَاثِ الْعَرَبِ وَ أَخَذُوا الْجُبَّةَ مِنْهُ فَرَجَعَ دِعْبِلٌ‏ إِلَى قُمَّ وَ سَأَلَهُمْ رَدَّ الْجُبَّةِ فَامْتَنَعَ الْأَحْدَاثُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ وَ عَصَوُا الْمَشَايِخَ فِي أَمْرِهَا فَقَالُوا لِدِعْبِلٍ لَا سَبِيلَ لَكَ إِلَى الْجُبَّةِ فَخُذْ ثَمَنَهَا أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ فَأَبَى عَلَيْهِمْ فَلَمَّا يَئِسَ مِنْ رَدِّهِمُ الْجُبَّةَ سَأَلَهُمْ أَنْ يَدْفَعُوا إِلَيْهِ شَيْئاً مِنْهَا فَأَجَابُوهُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ وَ أَعْطَوْهُ بَعْضَهَا وَ دَفَعُوا إِلَيْهِ ثَمَنَ بَاقِيهَا أَلْفَ دِينَارٍ وَ انْصَرَفَ دِعْبِلٌ إِلَى وَطَنِهِ فَوَجَدَ اللُّصُوصَ قَدْ أَخَذُوا جَمِيعَ مَا كَانَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ فَبَاعَ الْمِائَةَ الدِّينَارَ الَّتِي كَانَ الرِّضَا ع وَصَلَهُ بِهَا فَبَاعَ مِنَ الشِّيعَةِ كُلَّ دِينَارٍ بِمِائَةِ دِرْهَمٍ فَحَصَلَ فِي يَدِهِ عَشَرَةُ آلَافِ دِرْهَمٍ فَذَكَرَ قَوْلَ الرِّضَا ع إِنَّكَ سَتَحْتَاجُ إِلَى الدَّنَانِير

“Abu Salt HARVI” says: “Du’bal KHAZAI’I” went to Imam “Reza” [AS] in “Marv” and sang poem. Then Imam [AS] got up and said “Du’bal” to stay there, Imam [AS] went inside the house and after a while servent came out and gave him and said: my lord say to spend these coins. “Du’bal” said: swear to god I’m not here for money and didn’t sing that poem till Imam [AS] gives me money and rejected them. He asked a clothing from Imam “Reza” [AS] for blessing, but Imam [AS] gave him a cloak made of fur and a bag of gold and said to servant saying “Du’bal” to get this money that he’ll need it soon …. “Du’bal” left the “Marv” till he arrived at province of “Qom”, people asked him to sing the poem for them he told them getting together at principle mosque. People did so, then he sat on the pulpit and sang the poem. People gave him much money and when they found out that Imam Reza [AS] has given him a cloak they begged him to sell it as much as 1000 dinars but he avoided. They said: at least sell part of it by 1000 dinars but he didn’t accept again. He left the city a group of Arab adolescents got his cloak. He returned to “Qom” and asked them to take the cloak back but they didn’t do that, they said to “Du’bal” we’ll pay for it but he refused, when he found out that he can’t get it asked them to give him part of it, they accepted. “Du’bal” got back to his home town and found out that all his money was stolen then he sold each dinar of that 100 dinars that Imam [AS] had given him to Shiites as much as 100 dirhams and gained 10 thousand dirhams. Then he

remembered what Imam “Reza” [AS] had told him: you will need this money very soon.

Seventh narrative: awareness of the murdering of “Amin Abbasid”

حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سَعْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عِيسَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ بَشَّارٍ قَالَ قَالَ الرِّضَا ع‏ إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ يَقْتُلُ مُحَمَّداً فَقُلْتُ لَهُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ هَارُونَ يَقْتُلُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ هَارُونَ فَقَالَ لِي نَعَمْ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ الَّذِي بِخُرَاسَانَ يَقْتُلُ مُحَمَّدَ ابْنَ زُبَيْدَةَ الَّذِي هُوَ بِبَغْدَادَ فَقَتَلَهُ.

“Husain ibn Bashar” said: imam “Reza” [AS] said: “Abdullah” will murder “Muhammad”. I said: will “Abdullah ibn Harun” kill “Muhammad ibn Harun”? He said: yes he’ll; “Abdullah” who’s in the “Kurasan” will murder “Muhammad ibn Zubaidah”. And after a short time “Ma’mun”, he killed

“Amin”.

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ مَاجِيلَوَيْهِ وَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُوسَى الْمُتَوَكِّلُ وَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زِيَادِ بْنِ جَعْفَرٍ الْهَمَدَانِيُّ وَ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ وَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ تَاتَانَةَ وَ الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ هِشَامٍ الْمُؤَدِّبُ وَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْوَرَّاقُ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُمْ قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ هَاشِمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ أَبِي الصَّلْتِ الْهَرَوِيِّ قَالَ: بَيْنَا أَنَا وَاقِفٌ بَيْنَ يَدَيْ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُوسَى الرِّضَا ع إِذْ قَالَ لِي يَا أَبَا الصَّلْتِ ادْخُلْ هَذِهِ الْقُبَّةَ الَّتِي فِيهَا قَبْرُ هَارُونَ وَ ائْتِنِي بِتُرَابٍ مِنْ أَرْبَعَةِ جَوَانِبِهَا قَالَ فَمَضَيْتُ فَأَتَيْتُ بِهِ فَلَمَّا مَثُلْتُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ فَقَالَ لِي نَاوِلْنِي هَذَا التُّرَابَ وَ هُوَ مِنْ عِنْدِ الْبَابِ فَنَاوَلْتُهُ فَأَخَذَهُ وَ شَمَّهُ ثُمَّ رَمَى بِهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ سَيُحْفَرُ لِي هَاهُنَا... ثُمَّ قَالَ عليه السلام يَا أَبَا الصَّلْتِ غَداً أُدْخَلُ عَلَى هَذَا الْفَاجِرِ فَإِنْ أَنَا خَرَجْتُ وَ أَنَا مَكْشُوفُ الرَّأْسِ فَتَكَلَّمْ أُكَلِّمْكَ وَ إِنْ أَنَا خَرَجْتُ وَ أَنَا مُغَطَّى الرَّأْسِ فَلَا تُكَلِّمْنِي قَالَ أَبُو الصَّلْتِ فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْنَا مِنَ الْغَدِ ... دَخَلَ الْمَأْمُونَ ... فَخَرَجَ ع مُغَطَّى الرَّأْسِ فَلَمْ أُكَلِّمْهُ حَتَّى دَخَلَ الدَّار... قَالَ أَبُو الصَّلْت‏ ... فَأَمَرَ (المأمون) بِحَفْرِ الْقَبْرِ فَحُفِرَتُ الْمَوْضع فَظَهَرَ كُلُّ شَيْ‏ءٍ عَلَى مَا وَصَفَهُ الرِّضَا عليه السلام ...

“Abu Salt HARVI” says: I was with Imam “Reza” [AS], he said” Aba Salt”, go to this place that the grave of “Haroon al-Rashid” is located and bring the soil of its four corners. I did so. Then Imam said: give me the soil that was near the entrance door then Imam got the soil and smelled and poured on the ground then he said: “Aba salt” my grave will be dug up here soon…. Then Imam [AS] said: “Aba Salt” tomorrow I’ll go to this dissolute [Ma’mun], when I come out if I’m covering my head by cloak, don’t talk to me. “Aba Salt” says: next day in the morning …. Imam [AS] went to “Ma’mun” …. Then he came out while covering his head by his cloak, I didn’t talk to him and he went to his home [and Imam [AS] got martyred due to poisonous food given to him by “Ma’mun”] … “Aba al-Salt” says:…. “Ma’mun” ordered me to dig up the grave of Imam “Reza” [AS] and I dug up that position and any

thing that Imam “Reza” had said appeared…   

Conclusion:

Valid reports in the book “Oyoun Akhbar Al-Ridha” from “shaykh Saduq” prove the foreknowledge of Imam “Reza” [AS].
