Maverdi Shafe’ee (D. 450H.) and Abuali Hanbali (D. 458 H.) clearly stated: in Abu-Bakr allegiance, there was no consensus in Abu-Bakr’s allegiance and any reference to consensus is invalid.
« فقالت طائفة : لاتنعقد إلّا بجمهور أهل العقد والحلّ من كلّ بلد ، ليكون الرضا به عامّاً ، والتسليم لإمامته إجماعاً ، وهذا مذهب مدفوع ببيعة أبي بكر -رضي اللّه- عنه على الخلافة باختيار من حضرها ، ولم ينتظر ببيعته قدوم غائب عنها »الأحكام السلطانيّة لماوردى ، ص 33 ، الأحكام السلطانيّة ، لأبييعلى محمد ابن الحسن الفراء ، ص 117

15- you say: all the theorists from companions and immigrants were involved in the event of Abu-Bakr’s allegiance , while your prominent interpreter Ghortabi (D.671 H.) denies it explicitly, and he claims that Abu-Bakr’s caliphate hinged only upon the allegiance of Omar;
« فإن عقدها واحد من أهل الحلّ والعقد فذلك ثابت ، ويلزم الغير فعله ، خلافاً لبعض الناس حيث قال : لا ينعقد إلّا بجماعة من أهل الحلّ والعقد ، ودليلنا : أنّ عمر ( رض ) عقد البيعة لأبي بكر » جامع أحكام القرآن ، ج 1 ، ص 272 –269
16- In fact, what kind of consensus are you exactly talking about that your prominent Motakalim such as Imam al-Harameyn, Master Ghazali (D 478 H.) denies it! And he says: in conforming Imamate there is no need to consensus, as in Abu-Bakr’s Imamate the verdict was signed and the principles were issued without any consensus and before other companions hear the news in other states. He concludes: Imamate is held by the admission of one member of Ahl Hal and Aghd (the association of counseling and decision making);
؛ « اعلموا أنّه لا يشترط في عقد الإمامة ، الإجماع ، بل تنعقد الإمامة وإن لم تجمع الأمّة على عقدها ، والدليل عليه أنّ الإمامة لمّا عقدت لأبي بكر ابتدر لإمضاء أحكام المسلمين ، ولم يتأن لانتشار الأخبار إلى من نأى من الصحابة في الأقطار ، ولم ينكر منكر . فإذا لم يشترط الإجماع في عقد الإمامة ، لم يثبت عدد معدود ولا حدّ محدود ، فالوجه الحكم بأنّ الإمامة تنعقد بعقد واحد منأهل الحلّ والعقد » الإرشاد في الكلام ، ص 424 ، باب في الاختيار وصفته وذكر ما تنعقد الإمامة ..
17. What kind of consensus u claim to be supporting this caliphate, while Ezdodin Eiji (D. 756 H.), the author of “al-Mavaghef” book and one of the founders of Sunni’s Kalaam denies it and asserts explicitly: there are no logical and verbal reasons to validate a consensus and Imamate will be held as soon as one or two people from the association (Ahl Hal and Agd) swear allegiance to someone, as Abu-Bakr’s Imamate was held by Omar’s allegiance and Ottoman’s Imamate started with Abdul-Rahman ibn Ouf’s allegiance.
« وإذا ثبت حصول الإمامة بالاختيار والبيعة ، فاعلم أنّ ذلك لا يفتقر إلى الإجماع ، إذ لم يقم عليه دليل من العقل أو السمع ، بل الواحد والإثنان من أهل الحلّ والعقد كاف ، لعلمنا أنّ الصحابة مع صلابتهم في الدين اكتفوا بذلك ، كعقد عمر لأبي بكر ، وعقد عبد الرحمن بن عوف لعثمان » .
The interesting point he adds: in Abu-Bakr’s Imamate, they didn’t consider even the idea of consulting Medina population, let alone the whole nation.
« ولم يشترطوا اجتماع مَن في المدينة فضلاً عن اجتماع الأمّة . هذا ولم ينكر عليه أحد ، وعليه انطوت الأعصار إلى وقتنا هذا » المواقف في علم الكلام ، ج 8 ، ص 351 . !
besides, Ibn Arabi Maleki (D. 543 H.) another prominent figure of you (ahl-al-sunnat) says: in electing Imam, there is no need to all people to participate for voting, just one or two people are enough to perform the election.
« لا يلزم في عقد البيعة للإمام أن تكون من جميع الأنام بل يكفي لعقد ذلك إثنان أو واحد » شرح سنن الترمذى ، ج 3 ، ص 229 . !
« فاعتبروا يا أولي الأبصار » .
