It is not permissible for women to work in places where men are also working. It is obligatory for them to stay away from such places and look for a job that is Halal and appropriate for them, in order not to be exposed to danger. Therefore, it is religiously forbidden for women to work as sales-agents.
Based on a report by Shia Online, the latest fatwa of "Scientific Researches and Fatwas Committee of Saudi Arabia" announces that working as a sales-agent is a Haraam action.
It is worth mentioning, according to this Fatwa which was issued yesterday (on Sunday), the controversies among religious figure of Wahhabism in Saudi Arabia over the permission to or the prohibition of working as a saleswoman were finally ended.
Following the issue of this fatwa by Scientific Researches and Fatwa Committee of Saudi Arabia, the negative reaction of some of religious and social figures, even the advocators of women rights can be predictable.
Here is the full content of the fatwa issued by this committee:
It is not permissible for women to work in places where men also work and it is also obligatory for them to avoid such places and search for jobs that are Halal and proper for them in order not to be exposed to danger. Accordingly, it is Haram for women to work as sales agents.
