Do Islamic laws of 1400 years ago need modernization due to the rapid development of the science?

The questioner: Arazu Karimi

The answer:

Among all the religions in the world, Islam is the only religion that effectively involves all the affairs of the human life. Islam in its provisions is not contented with a series of warships, and a series of ethical exhortations; it has clarified the relations between God and the servants, the main lines between humans and the rights and the duties among them in all their different forms. In fact Islam is adaptable religion in every time.

The adaptive nature of Islam from the point of view of the foreigners

Many of the foreign writers and scholars have studied the Islamic civil and social laws, they glorified them and defined them as a progressive series of laws; they enshrined Islam as everlasting religion and glorified its overtime applicable laws

Bernad Shaw a freethinker and a well-known writer has said:

"I have always held the religion of Muhammad in high estimation because of its wonderful vitality. It is the only religion which appears to possess that assimilating capability to the changing phases of life which makes itself appealing to every era - I prophesy that the faith of Muhammad to God would be acceptable tomorrow as it is beginning to be acceptable to the Europe of today. Medieval ecclesiastics, either due to ignorance or bigotry, painted Mohammedanism in the darkest colors. They were, in fact, trained to hate both the man Muhammad and his religion. To them, Muhammad was an anti-Christ. I have studied him, the wonderful man, and in my opinion, far from being an anti-Christ, he must be called the Savior of humanity. I believe that if a man like him owns the new world, he will be successful in solving the problems of world and peace and felicity for human ambition will be provided."

Dr. Shably Shamil, a Lebanese materialist, who have translated the book ‘The Foundations Of The Origin Of Species’ by Darwin and its appendix which was explained by Bokhner used his translation as ‘A Weapon Against Religion’ in Arabic for the first time. And he provided it for the Arabs. Despite he is a materialist; he is interested in Islam and inspires the prophet Muhammad (PBUH). He has never stopped praising Islam as a living and applicable religion. This man has written an article named<<Quran and prosperity >>. In this article he has rejected a foreign writer who has travelled to Islamic countries and accounted Islam as the main cause for the decline of the Muslims. He has published this article in the second volume of his book ‘Evolution And Upgrading Philosophy’. Dr. Shably Shamil tries to prove that the decline of Muslims is the deviation from the social teachings of Islam not the religion of Islam and describes those Westerners who attack Islam as they don’t understand Islam or have the intention to debase it. They want to enslave the easterners by despairing them by some self raised rules and provisions. The most repetitive question is: if laws are constant how cold they meet the changeable needs of the humans? This is a worthy question. One of the miraculous aspects of the Islamic religion that makes every knowing Muslim or scholar feel pride of it is that Islam includes some constant laws for all the constant individual and social needs and includes changeable laws for temporary and changeable needs. In this case, Islamic laws are up to date and accordant with all the real needs of people in every time; the clear evidence for this is the exercise of judgment (Ijtihad) and the steady elicitation of ordinances of Islam by scholars and apostles.
